Course Overview
Skybrook has done a fantastic job with the golf course over the last few years and has turned it into one of the better courses in the Charlotte area. This is the first time we had the opportunity to play since they closed the course for a few months in 2019 to completely renovate the fairways and redo the greens with Bermuda grass.
The layout of Skybrook is fun and challenging, and it’s always been this way. Between the layout and now pristine conditions, it makes for some of the best golf around.
The greens took a few holes to get used to, as they were extremely hard and quicker than any other course that we played so far this year. Even those 2-3-foot putts were by no means automatic. The approach shots were hard to stick so use less club and expect the balls to roll out. You’ll want to get there early to spend some time on the putting green before your round.
The course has a lot of elevation changes and plays like a mountain course with several blind shots, hazards, and bunkers.
Taking precaution with the coronavirus, they’ve spaced out tee times by 15 minutes, which allowed us to finish the round in around 3 hours! You wont regret booking your tee time today.
It’s always a fun time getting out here and we plan to play here more often. The club is highly engaged on all social media platforms with a very loyal following from its members. Check out this update from earlier in the year with GM Mike Lapierre going over the updates the course has made:
Signature Holes
#3 Par 4, 366yds, Handicap 7 – This is a great par 4 with an elevated green and a creek running through the fairway toward the start of the green. It’s not a long hole, so you’ll want to hit a long iron or fairway wood off the tee, and you should have a wedge going into the green. Play more club as you don’t want to miss the green on the short side, which will leave for a tough up and down.

#9 Par 4, 405yds, Handicap 9 – Finishing up the front 9 always seems to cause some trouble. The fairway goes slightly left and uphill towards the clubhouse and you can find trouble on both sides of the fairway depending on your distance. This hole always plays a bit longer.
#16 Par 3, 162 yds, Handicap 14 – This is a fun par 3 with water on the short side. We always find wind on this hole, and anything short has a chance of rolling back into the water hazard so club up and play it towards the middle of the green.

#17 Par 4, 366yds, Handicap 2 – This beautiful par 4 requires accuracy off the tee. There’s water on the left side and woods on the right. Hit something that will find any part of the fairway and it should set you up nicely. If you find yourself out of position, this could be a daunting hole.
#18 Par 5, 532yds, Handicap 8 – This is a tough finishing hole with a long par 5 depending on how you play it. You can play it over the trees to have a chance at attacking the green in 2, but the approach will be straight uphill, tucked away in between bunkers and hazards along the entire left side of the fairway.
