Course Overview

Mooresville Golf Club is one of the only links style golf courses you’ll find in the Charlotte area, which is located right by Lake Norman.  It’s a must try for those who like links golf.  With the links style, you’re almost guaranteed to deal with windy conditions, which makes club selection even more important.  They underwent renovations back in 2016 and the course has positioned itself as a top course in the area.

The practice area is massive and a state-of-the-art facility featuring a driving range, sand bunkers, a chipping area, and putting green.  The carts have GPS built in, which is always an added bonus.

The layout of this course is fun and challenging. With 3 par 5s and 3 par 3s on the front, there are plenty of opportunities to score.  The Bermuda greens are always in good shape, roll true, and typically will play pretty quick.  With the amount of rain we have seen recently, the greens were a bit slower but we’re sure that will not be the case for long.

We started play on the back 9, and when we made the turn, we realized hole #1 was temporarily closed.  It looked like it was destroyed from all the water over the last few weeks.  We weren’t thrilled to find that out so you may want to call beforehand to inquire if that’s still the case.

The morning rounds on the weekends are not cheap, but still a decent value for the level of play.  They have a good twilight rate, but you can also replay the course for only $25.

For those of you that have not played here before, we would definitely recommend checking it out!

Signature Holes:

#9 Par 4, 411yds, Handicap: 7 – This is a beautiful downhill par 4 that bends to the right.  The landing area is wide, but the approach is challenging with a hazard in front of the green.

#10 Par 3, 185yds, Handicap: 10 – A par 3 to start the back 9 with a guarded green which makes this tricky.  The hole always plays longer factoring in the wind, and there’s a bunker right, water short and right, and woods on the left-hand side that slopes downhill which will take your ball out of play.

#16 Par 4, 297yds, Handicap: 14 – **DRIVEABLE PAR 4*** Long hitters can elect to go for green, with room to miss on the right side.  A miss on the left is dead and if you lay up it should make for an easy hole.  This is our personal favorite, as are most par 4s where we can go for green 😊
