When you think about driving ranges in Charlotte, Leatherman is the top of mind. Located within 10 minutes from downtown Charlotte, this is the perfect spot to get away and hit some golf balls. This range has everything you could possibly imagine: Technology that automatically dispense the balls on different size tees, some covered areas, turf matts, grass sections, bunker practice, and a putting green. Aside from the traditional driving range features, Leatherman has golf lessons, a mini golf course, and a golf shop with club fitting, repair, and golf equipment. The range has lights also for those that want to go after work.
Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course is a 9-hole course in the middle of South End, minutes from Uptown Charlotte. But what many people don’t realize is their enormous practice facility. The driving range has all grass areas for you to fine tune that iron game, which could be more beneficial than the mats. You’ll also find a massive putting green, and an oversized area to work on your chipping or bunker play. The balls are on the more expensive side, but remember the land in this booming area isn’t cheap. If you were just looking to work on your short game, this is the place you want to be.
This driving range just opened in May of 2021 with 6 different tiers of grass, 20 covered heated bays, and an indoor putting green.
First Tee of Greater Charlotte, established in 2003, say its mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
Unless you have looked up the driving ranges in Charlotte, you most likely have not heard about this one. Located about 8 miles north of Uptown off 77, you can find this driving range. When you pull up to it, you may think its closed or question why you came, but rest assured, this place is awesome. Nothing about it is fancy, which is why they can offer the balls at a cheap price, its quiet and allows you to focus on your game. If you live north of Charlotte, this is your spot.
We’re sure most of you have already been to Topgolf, but it’s a fun atmosphere to go to hit some balls, have some drinks, eat and socialize. The balls are a little lighter than actual golf balls, so it’s not the place to figure out the distance of your clubs, but still a great option to get in your reps. They have leagues during the week and lessons as well. They have a location coming in the University area, which will help shorten wait times at the current location. Check out their Swing Suite in Uptown Charlotte, which features indoor simulators not only for golf, but other sports as well.
