Course Overview

Beacon Ridge Golf & Country Club is within the Seven Lakes West community, which is a 3,000-acre gated master-planned community. It is about 15 minutes from Pinehurst Resort. Whether you are visiting Pinehurst or live in the area, Beacon Ridge is a great course play.

Beacon Ridge has a fantastic layout that provides a challenge for golfers of all abilities. It has a true Pinehurst feel to it and has a mix of towering pines and rolling hills throughout the North Carolina Sandhills.  Throughout the course you will find a mix of water, elevation changes, pine needles and bunkers, making for a great scenic golf experience. The course delivers an affordable round of golf in the Pinehurst area and is definitely worth checking out on your next trip there.

The course features Bermuda fairways and tee boxes, with new Sunday Bermuda greens. It has gone through major improvements over the past year, and it will continue to do so. Beacon Ridge has changed owners within the last two years, and the new owndership is putting a lot of money into the golf course to make it a fantastic place to play. They replaced all the greens just over a year ago, and the new greens are coming in really nicely.  We’d expect them to be in mint condition the next time we get out there. Prior to the ownership change, the conditions supposedly were not where they needed to be – but don’t let that prevent you from checking it out. They brought on Gregg Hunt, who has decades of experience with prestigious private clubs in Virginia, and he is helping to get the course to where it needs to be in order to compete with some of the best Pinehurst courses.

Beacon Ridge provides one of the best values to golfers in the Pinehurst area. With most of the Pinehurst courses costing a couple hundred per round, you can play Beacon Ridge at a fraction of the cost. It is a great option to include on a weekend trip to Pinehurst, or on the way back to Charlotte. They also have a great replay rate of $25, so if you want to make a day trip out of it, you can get out there and play 36 holes.

The course has a great layout, and the conditions were good when we played.  After speaking with management, they know they still have some things to do.  As they continue to make these improvements, Beacon Ridge should be on par with the other courses in the area.  They have the right leadership and direction to continue to improve, and we look forward to getting back out there soon.
